Whspe
Whspe stands for Web Hosting Specialist.

Whspe (Web Hosting Specialist) is a pioneering web hosting intelligence platform built to bring transparency and scientific rigor to one of the most opaque corners of the internet industry: hosting provider quality. While the web hosting market is flooded with affiliate-driven reviews and superficial speed tests, Whspe was designed from the ground up to answer a harder question — what does real server quality actually look like, measured honestly?
Hitit Medya partnered with the Whspe team to engineer and design the entire digital presence: from the data-heavy frontend interface to the information architecture that makes complex performance metrics accessible to both developers and non-technical buyers.
The Problem We Solved
Every hosting comparison site on the internet has the same fundamental flaw: they measure what is easy, not what is meaningful. A single TTFB (Time To First Byte) number tells you almost nothing about a hosting provider's actual infrastructure quality, because TTFB is a composite of at least four distinct phases:
DNS Resolution Time — controlled by the domain registrar, not the host
TCP Handshake Duration — influenced by geographic distance and routing
TLS Negotiation Overhead — determined by SSL configuration choices
Server Processing Time — the only metric that truly reflects the hosting provider's capability
The Whspe team developed a proprietary methodology called the Real Load Score, which surgically isolates server-side processing time and pairs it with a sustained 1MB payload download test to measure real-world throughput under load. The result is a weighted composite formula that rewards genuinely fast infrastructure — and cannot be gamed by CDN tricks or clever DNS configuration.
Our challenge was to build a platform that communicates this level of technical nuance without alienating a broader audience of website owners and businesses shopping for hosting.
What We Built
Data-Driven Frontend Architecture
The Whspe platform required a frontend architecture capable of rendering live performance data, comparative scoring dashboards, and methodology documentation — all while maintaining exceptional Core Web Vitals scores. We built the interface on React 19 and Next.js, leveraging server-side rendering (SSR) for data-rich provider pages and static generation (SSG) for evergreen content like the methodology blog.
Every component was engineered with performance as a first principle. It would have been a contradiction in terms to build a hosting performance analysis tool on a slow website.
Information Architecture & UX Design
One of the most complex UX challenges in this project was presenting multi-dimensional performance data — decomposed TTFB phases, 1MB download scores, geographic variance across three test nodes — in a way that was immediately scannable. We developed a layered information hierarchy:
Top-level: A single composite Real Load Score for instant comparison
Mid-level: Phase-by-phase TTFB breakdown for technical users
Deep-level: Raw test data and methodology documentation for researchers and power users
This tiered approach ensures that a small business owner and a senior DevOps engineer can both find the signal they need from the same dataset.
SEO-Optimized Content Infrastructure
The hosting comparison and review market is one of the most competitive SEO verticals on the internet. Whspe's content strategy needed to be both technically accurate and strategically structured to compete for high-intent search queries.
We implemented a structured content system with semantic HTML5, schema.org markup for review and product data, and a blog infrastructure capable of publishing long-form technical content. The methodology articles — including the detailed Real Load Score breakdown and the three-node test architecture documentation — were built as pillar content pieces designed to attract organic traffic from developers and hosting buyers alike.
Multilingual Foundation
The platform launched with full Turkish and English language support, built on a robust i18n (internationalization) architecture. This was not a simple translation layer but a full content localization system where each language version maintains independent SEO metadata, URL structures, and content hierarchies.
Key Outcomes
A product that stands apart in a crowded market. By building around a methodology that no competitor was using — decomposed TTFB analysis paired with sustained load testing — Whspe launched with a genuine technical differentiator, not a cosmetic one.
Recognized by the developer community. Within days of launch, Whspe was featured on Hacker News under the Show HN category, where it attracted attention for the technical rigor of its Real Load Score methodology. The HN community's reception validated both the product concept and the clarity of the methodology communication — a direct result of the UX decisions made during the build.
A platform built for growth. The architecture supports expansion to additional hosting providers, new geographic test nodes, and deeper analytics features without requiring structural rebuilds. Whspe is not a static review site — it is a living data platform.
About Whspe
Whspe stands for Web Hosting Specialist. The name reflects the platform's singular focus: providing serious, unbiased, technically grounded analysis of web hosting providers for the people who need it most — developers, agencies, and businesses who understand that hosting quality is not a commodity decision.
